It looks like we always had a soft spot for this visual style, even before we asked our followers on Instagram to submit their photos with this theme.

In the beginning it was all about the city. We have started with cards about Berlin, showing Berlin, praising Berlin. From a perfectly timed image by @aladiia with people moving towards each other, to people waiting for green lights at Rosenthaler Platz, their backs at each other by @lindaberlin, we always enjoy a good urban picture. Duality is the secret.

Then we looked up, right around the Gedenkstätte Berliner Mauer, together with @askanios and there it was an interesting alignment of birds framed by the top of the building. The sky looked interesting above Alexanderplatz for @_hannesthun too. In München, we went straight underground, with red lighting in the subway, captured by @eskimo. Then we went back to the surface again, admiring a solitary tree all the way to Kuala Lumpur, traveling with @konaction and decided we like broken symmetries, just as much.

At the same time, we enjoyed creating congratulations cards, the pretty shoes of @fraenze_berlin for beautiful wedding wishes and balloons up in the air by the talented @teresacfreitas to celebrate new borns.

Perhaps symmetry is about pleasant proportions or finding a better half, maybe it is pure geometry or just fun shapes coming alive in a picture.

The challenge continues, this month we invite you to seek light and shade with us, you never know when your image might become a bestseller card, making someone’s day all across the globe. October is now about warm light and playful shadows. Tag your photos with #octoberlightandshade so that we can notice them and show them to eveybody else, too.

Happy light chasing!
